JESSE on CBC’s Short Film Faceoff September 26, 2014
Excellent news for director Adam Goldhammer on his short film, JESSE. The film is one of nine contestants on CBC’s Short Film Faceoff at 7 p.m. this Saturday, September 27. That means tomorrow.
Here’s what Adam has to say about JESSE:
“The film is a personal story based on my relationship with my sister, who has autism. Here is the synopsis: after her parents are killed in a car accident, 22-year-old Kelly Turner (Hannah Anderson) finds herself in the overwhelming position of being the sole caregiver for her older brother Jesse (Jake Epstein) who has autism.”
Jake Epstein is an amazing and increasingly successful actor who has been starring on Broadway in the musical Beautiful, playing songwriter Gerry Goffin in the life story of Carole King. Rave reviews have marked his performance—which is just as wonderful (if shorter) in the 11-minute-long JESSE.
From hundreds of submissions, nine films and their directors were selected into the Short Film Faceoff. From these nine, an industry panel will advance three films to the final round, where they will compete for the grand prize – a production deal worth 45k!
Should Jesse be advanced by the industry panel to the finals voting will be open for 24 hours following the show (from 8pm on the 27th until 8pm on the 28th). Directions on how to vote can be found at www.cbc.ca/shortfilmfaceoff
You can watch the film HERE
Please watch the show, and should we advance to the final round (fingers crossed) please vote for the film!
Disclosure: I was the story editor on JESSE and I think it’s just great!
